a) Integrity
Integrity means being honest and
having strong moral principles. A person with integrity does what is right,
even when no one is watching.
·
Example: A government officer finds a wallet full of cash in the
office. Instead of keeping it, he reports it to the lost-and-found and tries to
trace the owner. This shows integrity.
b) Perseverance
Perseverance means continuing to
work hard even when the task is difficult or success is delayed. It is not
giving up easily.
·
Example: An aspirant preparing for the Civil Services exam fails
twice but doesn’t give up. He studies harder and finally clears it in the third
attempt. This is perseverance.
c) Spirit of Service
It means having a genuine desire to
help others without expecting any reward or recognition. It is about putting
others’ needs before your own.
·
Example: During floods in Assam, a young IAS officer works day and
night in relief camps, ensuring food and medicine reach villagers. This is the spirit
of service.
d) Commitment
Commitment is being dedicated to a
cause, duty, or responsibility and giving your best consistently.
·
Example: A health worker walks miles daily to vaccinate children in
remote areas because she believes in protecting every child. Her actions show commitment.
e) Courage of Conviction
This means standing firmly for what
you believe is right, even when facing pressure, opposition, or risk.
·
Example: A whistleblower officer exposes corruption in his
department, even when threatened with transfer. He stands by his values. This
shows courage of conviction.
